The Mile Climb Trail was established in the mid-1980s and was approximately one mile from top to bottom. Over time, with heavy use, the trail began to erode. Due to the steepness and length of the trail, erosion could not be controlled. To correct the erosion problem, approximately 2000 feet of the trail was closed, recontoured, and revegetated. The following two photos show the bottom of Mile Climb Trail where it joins another trail. The "after" photo is 4 years after the work was completed. In time the regrowth will blend with the undisturbed chaparral habitat on either side of the trail.
