Uniforms & Wetsuit Info.

The Oceano Dunes Junior Lifeguard Program provides high-quality uniform items at or near wholesale prices to its participants. All Junior Lifeguard Program participants are required to wear a uniform for team camaraderie and for safety. The uniforms allow the Instructors to safely monitor the children and distinguish them from non-Junior Lifeguard participants.

Photo of Junior Lifeguard uniformStudent REQUIRED Uniform: The required Junior Lifeguard uniform is a white t-shirt with the Junior Lifeguard logo, a rashguard, and a navy blue swimsuit. Navy blue sweatshirts are recommended for warmth on cold mornings and after aquatic activities. Note: One white logo t-shirt, swim trunks and sweatshirt are included with tuition. Students must wear full uniform each day -- see Parent Handbook for non-uniform participation information.

Girls must have a one piece swimsuit OR 2 piece tank top style swimsuit.  We do not sell these with the uniform package.  They can be purchased easily online, but you can find an example on www.originalwatermen.com.  Click on the lifeguard tab, then juniors, select either  “X-back Junior” or “Rescue Bikini Junior.” GH Sports offers great suits along with usa.jolynclothing.com/collections.

Boys must have a speedo or jammers (these are especially needed on competition days).

Wetsuits: (We have wetsuits to borrow, loaned must be washed and taken care of by the student and returned at the end of the program)

Recommended:
Full wetsuits 4/3mm (thicker) or 3/2mm, are highly recommended due to the year-round cold water temperature. These can be found at local thrift stores or discounted for Oceano Dunes Junior Lifeguards at Panchos surf shop or Esteem surf shop in Pismo Beach, or online for the $100-200 range. You can get back zip or chest zips, and back zips may be easier for children who have a tougher time putting on the wetsuit.

Some good wetsuit brands:

  • Xcel
  • Vissla
  • O'neill
  • Sisster Revolution
