Located two miles west of Oroville, this 220-acre SVRA provides recreation opportunities for motorcycle, ATV and 4x4 recreationists.

The sand dunes and dense groves of tamarisk trees that prevail throughout the SVRA offer a unique desert recreation experience.

Divided into two unique recreation areas-the Upper Ranch and the Lower Ranch-the park provides a wide-variety of OHV recreation opportunities for all skill levels

Our Mission
The Mission of the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division is to provide leadership statewide in the area of off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation; to acquire, develop, and operate state-owned vehicular recreation areas; and to otherwise provide for a statewide system of managed OHV recreational opportunities through funding to other public agencies. The OHMVR Division works to ensure quality recreational opportunities remain available for future generations by providing for education, conservation, and enforcement efforts that balance OHV recreation impacts with programs that conserve and protect cultural and natural resources.

Ride your dirt bike, ATV, side-by-side (ROV/UTV), 4x4, or dune buggy on a wide variety of designated terrain and trails available at nine state vehicular recreation areas (SVRAs). Some SVRAs feature camping, interpretive programs, and other recreational opportunities.
Learn about our Grants Program
Our OHMVR Division’s Grants and Cooperative Agreements Program in an annual program providing financial assistance to eligible applicants for well-managed off-highway vehicle recreation.
OHMVR Commission
The Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Commission meets quarterly to review plans for new and expanded recreation areas and welcomes public comment on the OHMVR Division’s programs.
OHV Safety Week
Join the OHMVR Division and its partners for this year’s OHV Safety Week, held from November 15th to 23th, 2025. OHMVR Division encourages everyone to prioritize OHV safety and respect for one another.
Off-Highway Vehicle Access Project
The Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Access Project is a state initiative lead by the California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks) Strategic Planning and Recreation Services Division, Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division, and OHMVR Commission to identify new opportunities for additional OHV facilities in California as mandated by Senate Bill 155 (SB 155).
