Announcement Regarding Land Use in the Johnson Valley Area

JOHNSON VALLEY SHARED USE AREA TEMPORARY CLOSURE IN FEBRUARY 2023 CANCELLED - AREA WILL BE OPEN FOR PUBLIC USE

JOHNSON VALLEY SHARED USE AREA STATUS UPDATE

The Johnson Valley Shared Use Area will remain open to the public during the previously scheduled closure period of February 17 through 27, 2023.

The training exercise that will occur over this period has been refined to meet specific training objectives and requires a smaller footprint than a typical Service-Level Training Exercise. In spirit of the Combat Center’s commitment to keeping the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area open to the public for the maximum time feasible, the Combat Center has elected to not temporarily close the area, keeping it open for public use.

Although the Shared Use Area will remain open to the public at this time, training will be underway within Combat Center boundaries including adjacent expansion areas. Marine units participating in the training exercise will safely travel through the Shared Use Area. The public should avoid military vehicles.

Amended closure dates for Johnson Valley Share Area:

  • August 18 through August 28, 2023. *

*These dates replace the previously announced closure period of August 25 through September 4, 2023.
