The primary focus of the Hollister Hills Interpretation Department is education and public outreach. We strive to educate our visitors about off-highway vehicle (OHV) use and park stewardship.
Job Description: In addition to supporting our 4th Grade Adventure Pass Program, the primary duties of an Interpretive Senior Park Aide include, but are not limited to, leading interpretive (educational) programs, guided hikes, evening and school programs, and supporting park-sponsored community events. The position will also assist in social media posting and informational videos, as well as maintenance of interpretive exhibits, native gardens, vehicles, general work equipment, and basic administrative work.
The reporting location is at the Hollister Hills Sector Office at 7800 Cienega Road, Hollister, CA 95023. Interpretive Senior Park Aides are supervised by the State Park Interpreter III and take daily direction from the State Park Interpreter I assigned as the Senior Park Aide’s lead person.
Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and special events. Assigned days off may vary from month to month. Hours and days are flexible. Occasional travel may be required to assist other park units or for local school programs and community outreach.
The Senior Park Aide will perform duties dressed in full State Park uniform (no uniform allowance is provided). Driving Record and background check will be accessed if a job offer is extended. Training will be provided to operate off-highway vehicles.
Hourly Rate: $17.49 - $19.32/hr
Schedule: Seasonal position (ATW), Flexible Schedule
This is an Actual Time Worked (ATW) position working approximately 20-40 hours per week for a maximum of 189 days a year, subject to grant funding.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid CA driver’s license

The primary focus of the Natural Resources Department is to maintain and preserve the natural resources of the park by maintaining trails, performing native plant restoration work, propagating native plants, conducting invasive species treatment, and managing biofuel loads.
Job Description: The Forestry Aide is a subprofessional position involved in the natural resource management of the facilities and natural resources within the park including fire and trail management. Under supervision and in compliance with department policies, the FA performs a variety of natural resource management functions requiring varying forms of manual labor work in order to maintain State Park resources. All work is done outdoors, including inclement weather with exposure to ticks, poison oak, and wildlife.
The Forestry Aide reporting location is Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA), 7800 Cienega Rd, Hollister CA 95023. The Forestry Aide (FA) will work under the supervision of the Natural Resource Manager (South) and will receive daily direction from the lead Park Maintenance Worker I.
Hourly Rate: $18.67- $23.08/hr
Minimum Requirements:
- One year of experience in any one of the following: construction, equipment maintenance or operation, leading housekeeping or conservation crews, building repair, or mechanical trades.
- Possession of a valid California Class "C" driver's license
State housing is not available.
