Greenhouse Project (Hollister Hills SVRA)

The Hollister Hills SVRA greenhouse was built to provide the park with a ready supply of native plants to be used for revegetation projects. The result is a significant cost savings because staff can grow their own plants, thus reducing the quantity of plants purchased from nurseries. All the plants grown in the greenhouse come from seed collected from within the SVRA; hence, the plants being used are truly native and are best suited to survive and grow within the SVRA. The greenhouse also provides opportunities for volunteers and school groups to learn about the lifecycles of plants and the benefits of native plants.
