Planning

The Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division is charged by statute to carry out the substantial planning efforts needed to meet program goals and mandates. Planning for these purposes can occur in many ways, including the following:

  • A broad “strategic” base, in which statewide, regional, or other global trends are evaluated to help determine program directions and inform decision-making.

  • A master or “general” plan format, in which park units are thoroughly inventoried for natural, cultural, and recreational resources, environmental effects are determined, and mid to long term visions are created for the park unit.

  • A “site” plan context, in which specific plans are created to allow for the development of facilities, such as staging areas, comfort stations, and concession operations.

The OHMVR Division will be highlighting its planning efforts and/or updates on this page to assist in public information and outreach efforts.
