Mendocino Coast Recreation and Parks District
To Whom It May Concern I am writing in support of a planning grant for the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Parks District project. Funding is needed to assist with the many reports and surveys needed to responsibly use to District Regional Park property. To Whom It May Concern I am writing in support of a restoration grant for the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Parks District regional park. For many years illegal off highway vehicle (Pickups, SUV's, motorcycles, etc) have damaged sensitive ecological areas and generally damaged this property ie: garbage dumping, fires, uncontrolled erosion due to off trail/road use. The C.R.A. in conjunction with MCRPD has done a great job trying to rehabilitate the property but more must be done to secure the property against illegal trespass. This could truly be a place for families to enjoy OHV use, walking/biking trails etc but only if the property can be protected from the illegal trespass that has happened in the past. Why would the Mendocino Coast Parks and Recreation Dept., buy a 560+ acre OHV park on Hwy 20 - and only allow the public to use it ONE DAY a month! This is ridiculous, and seems like a taxpayer boondoggle, to me! Outrageous! Brian Cowell - 3/11/17
