I support the Stewards of the Sequoia program and hope that you will approve this grant application. John Ferro - 3/8/16

I like seeing Green Sticker funds being used for the maintenance of existing trail systems, it provides a direct benefit to those who pay into the fund, keeping trails maintained and open to all who enjoy being outdoors. Giving people a reason to get outdoors gaining exercise also provides a health benefit as well in my opinion. Thank You. Mark Force - 3/8/16

I encourage you to consider the proposal in place by SOS to continue ground operations in the Sequoia National Forest. The club's dedication to continued trail maintenance and their firm foothold in the forest are a testament to the positive impact they have had on the responsible usage in the area. Further funding would allow for greater good and continued excellence in the Sequoia National Forest. Sincerely, Zac Just - 3/8/16

I support this effort. Patrick Field - 3/8/16

I support this grant. Much needed to maintain our beautiful trails. Darren Bart - 3/8/16

I fully endorse the California Trail Users Coalition and the project : Ground Operations- Stanislaus. As a off road trail rider it is important to me to have well maintained and marked trails. Their proposal will benefit the preservation of our forest and the people to safely enjoy it. Craig R. Anderson - 3/10/16

This organization provides critical services for the forest in an effort to keep open trails. Without these services the public would loose access and loss of access means no more green sticker money. Please grant their application. Marc Sobel - 3/10/16

Stewards of the Sequoia is doing good things to keep OHV trails open and available to the public. I have a fifteen year old son that I want to take on the same trails that I have enjoyed for more than 12 years. Please make their request for funds happen! Thanks, Arnel Koster - 3/11/16

This is a great group of volunteers that do a lot of work. This helps the Sierra National Forest with necessary work that might not get done without their help. Keeping trails open is important to our family. Daryl Dellone - 3/11/16

This is a wonderful program and I fully support this group and what they will be doing! We need more like this. John Beite - 3/11/16

This grant looks to make excellent use of time, materials, and money. The grant appears to account for all the areas that will be needed to truly affect the OHV system and remedies. There would be great public support and additional volunteers if this project was able to move forward. As a user of OHV areas, this is badly needed and I encourage awarding this grant. Brandon Meyer - 3/13/16

As a user of the OHV system, this grant is badly needed and appears to account for all the aspects necessary to fully complete a project. The local community would provide additional support once this project begins. The deterioration of the OHV system is impacting many areas of the Stanislaus forest system. Without providing better access, less people will use the system and the forest will deteriorate more. Please award this grant. Brandon Meyer - 3/13/16

I support the proposed projects from CTUC and feel it is a responsible expenditure of Green Sticker Funds. Steve Cowdrey - 3/13/16

Outstanding organization. I support their efforts. Daryl Dellone - 3/13/16

Excellent write-up answering required questions and providing succinct explanation of benefits. Only money requested appears to be expenses for operations, necessary equipment and replacement equipment worn out from use in previous similar grants. All labor is provided by volunteers, trained and certified for safety. Sounds very economical for the state and county. These volunteers are supposedly OHV riders that benefit from the work, but so few are providing the opportunities for so many more citizens that the ratio of volunteers to recipients must be greater than 1:500. Sounds like an excellent use of grant funds. Dennis Osantowski - 3/13/16

This project supports responsible riding by providing well maintained trails and roads. Steve Cowdrey - 3/13/16

The project proposals under CTUC will promote responsible riding and trail mtc. Steve Cowdrey - 3/13/16

United Trail Maintainers of California supports the CCMA Restoration grant to restore closed sections of trail that have been replaced by new trail as written in the preliminary application. This project supports the concept of "shared stewardship" as opposed to the "agency does all" approach to trail maintenance. By using knowledgeable partners, the agency is able to better serve the public in its effort to create a sustainable OHV trail system. Beth Pfeiler - 3/15/16

This is a well planned and responsible approach to provide and maintain use of the forest by all. Edward Mann – 3/16/16

I support the efforts and vision of the Stewards of Stanislaus to secure funding to maintain the existing trail system in the Stanislaus National Forest.  Budget cuts and funding shortfalls have allowed many of the trails in the SNF to fall into disrepair and some are impassable.  Please allocate funding to this worthwhile cause that will improve water quality and the recreational opportunities our forest has to offer. Thank you. John Wilcox – 3/16/16

I am very impressed with the well organized operations of the CTUC and the Stewards of the Sierra, I believe funding this grant would be in the best interest of the majority of the public. Edward Mann – 3/16/16

Please fund this well needed operation. Edward Mann – 3/16/16

A lot more is needed in this district and this grant would help tremendously, please fund this project. Edward Mann – 3/16/16

Responsibly planned and written grant. This group deserves the support, please fund. Edward Mann – 3/16/16

Please accept these comments in support of the tremendous efforts of the Stewards of the Sierras. They're continuous hard work keep our trails maintained and in excellent condition for our OHV use. I appreciate all the dedicated hard work they provide to a Sierra National Forest who are under-staffed and under-budget. The Stewards provide what the FS is un-staffed to do. Please consider funding this grant for them to continue their dedicated work in the FS. Thank you. Mike McGarity – 3/16/16

The requested grant application will be put to good use and should be accepted. This will help maintain the trails and is being used by mainly volunteers. N. Conner – 3/16/16

I have worked many times with Stewards of the Sequoia as a partner organization over the years. They do an excellent job of maintaining the trails on Sequoia by involving a variety of user groups and engaging their community in caring for the land. As always, the CTUC grants are well designed and executed. I fully support this project proposal. Beth Pfeiler, UTMC – 3/17/16

United Trail Maintainers of California fully supports the work of Stewards of the Sierra and CTUC in providing routine trail maintenance on OHV trails in Sierra National Forest. This grant helps volunteers to expand their role in caring for public lands. Beth Pfeiler, UTMC – 3/17/16

March 18, 2016 Re: California Trail Users Coalition / Stewards of the Stanislaus National Forest, Grants and Cooperative Agreements Program - 2015/2016 To whom it may concern: I am in support of the proposed, and much needed trail maintenance grant proposal as it relates to improving and maintaining trail access for all users, specifically OHV users. As an a conservation minded trail user, I am in favor of promoting access into our national forest areas with responsible and methodical projects such as the Stewards of the Stanislaus National Forest is proposing. A grant award that supports the maintenance and accessibility of our trail systems is vital to many communities and user groups that access these areas on a regular basis. Due to budget constraints, the forest service is not always able to be effective in maintaining these vital forest routes. By obtaining the necessary funding through grant money, organized trail maintenance partnerships between the forest service and user groups has proven to be a win-win situation in many other areas; the Stewards of the Stanislaus National Forest group has extensive experience and resources to be an effective partner in such an endeavor. I implore you to consider awarding the requested grant money to enable partnerships to flourish with the intent to maintain a safe and healthy trail experience and to foster positive partnerships with all entities involved. Respectfully, Darin Jesberg – 3/18/16

I have been recreating in the Sequoia national forest for many years. I have been very impressed with the work done by this group and fully support the grant request. Jeff Just – 3/18/16

I support the proposed trail maintenance grant . A grant award that supports the maintenance of this trail system will allow access to this area on a regular basis by a greater number of OHV users. Stewards of the Stanislaus National Forest group has extensive experience and resources to be an effective partner in this effort. John Fry – 3/18/16

The Stewards of the Sierra NF have demonstrated exemplary progress and coordination with the Sierra NF staff. Through their work 85 miles that the NF could not afford to manage was reopened. Their work has made the location a prime destination for the OHV community. With great trails to ride the likelihood of illegal trail construction has reduced significantly. The SotSNF is a model for the rest of the OHV areas in NF throughout California. I highly endorse funding this proposal. Christopher Methot – 3/20/16

It is great to see a new user group, Stewards of Stanislaus (SoSNF), step up and offer to help the NF staff maintain the OHV opportunities in Stanislaus NF, There are currently 86 trail segments under interim closure resulting from litigation regarding the Stanislaus NF Motorized Travel Plan (ROD 2009). The NF staff has their hands full performing the analysis of this 86 designated segments. Many of these trails have been used for over 30 years by OHV clubs and individuals. Shutting down these trails will concentrate OHV on remaining areas and trails making them harder to maintain. Hopefully CTUC and SoSNF can provide resources to help the NF staff maintain and expand the great OHV opportunity that exists in Stanislaus NF. I fully endorse funding of this proposal. Christopher Methot – 3/20/16

I hereby request that you would approve and fully fund this grant. As a frequent user of the Sierra National Forest OHV areas and trails, I know first hand that the improvements, repairs and ongoing maintenance outlined in this grant application are very much needed and necessary in order to keep these facilities both safe and usable. I hereby request that you would approve and fully fund this grant. As a frequent user of the Los Padres National Forest OHV areas and trails, I know first hand that restoration is an integral part of reducing the unauthorized use in unapproved areas surrounding these facilities which is both unsafe and a huge detriment to our sport. I have to hand it to CTUC for taking on all these tasks to maintain and improve OHV opportunities in these forests. They pick up where the forest stops to foster OHV recreation. Every forest user owes you CTUC a debt of gratitude. I hope these grants can be fully funded to support their important work. E – 3/31/16

The Stewards of the Sierra have been very instrumental in helping to develop and keep OHV access open in the Sierra National Forest (SNF). They have worked closely with the SNF and the Division to develop plans and strategies to expand and maintain public access to OHV opportunities on public lands. Without this groups help the road and trail system in the SNF would not look as it does today. I would like to highly recommend that the Division fully fund this project so they can continue the great work they have been doing to ensure public access to public lands. Mike Wubbels – 4/1/16
