I strongly support this grant application by SBTS. I have worked with them and seen the quality of their work in the Downieville region. They have a strong leadership team and dedicated workers. Their contributions in Downieville and the Lakes Basin area are unmatched by any other non-profit. They also raise significant funding independently and they pull in volunteers from as far away as the Bay Area. As a board member for the Nevada County Woods Riders, we partner with SBTS on trail work and are committed to supporting this effort. Steve Minniear - 3/8/16

Excellent proposal from a group with a proven record of making trails safer and better for users. The proposed area is beautiful, one of the most lovely in my experience, and the trails are well used and in need of maintenance. SBTS uses volunteers to work the trails, and will make great use of the federal funds to leverage those volunteer hours. Please fund this important work! Michael Hill - 3/8/16

I am a frequent user of the trails in the surrounding Downieville area. As a mountain biker I ride the extensive trail system that has been maintained previously by the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship. Going forward there is always a need for continuous maintenance to keep erosion potential to a minimum. There are also annual blow downs of trees that need to be removed from the existing trail tread especially this year due to heavy winds and snow fall. Please provide the maximum grant funding for this needed maintenance. Respectfully, John Finch - 3/8/16

I whole heartedly support this request and the work of the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship. I, along with 10-15 fellow Californians have been traveling to the area for the past 10 summers to ride the tails. Our trips include multi-day stays in Downieville renting a vacation home and frequenting the many local establishments. I know our visits contribute positively to the local economy. There also is limited access for cyclists to access single track trails in California. The Downieville trail system provides this access and as the popularity of mountain biking continues to grow, the need to keep the trials maintained (both for safety and erosion mitigation) also grows. I hope the state grants Sierra Buttes request. Chris Davenport - 3/8/16

This is something needed for a long time. Good for the environment, outdoor enthusiasts, for the Forest Service because of volunteers, local cash flow due to tourism and potential events. Win Win all the way around. I cannot wait to participate in this momentous event. David Slotte – 3/18/16

Our group, Trails for Recreation and Community (TRAC) represents multiple types of trail users in both Plumas and Sierra County including the Tahoe and Plumas National Forest. We represent all trail enthusiasts from OHV to mountain biker hiker to equestrian. We STRONGLY support the efforts of the SBTS to seek grant funding to maintain and improve trails noted in this application. SBTS has a PROVEN track record of success at trail projects within this region. They are professional trail builders, and adept at leveraging financial support with volunteers and participants from surrounding communities. Their work is environmentally sound and of extremely high quality. The work they do provides a great recreational experience for OHV enthusiasts, and others, and brings much needed economic activity to this rural community. We look forward to seeing their work again through this grant! Ron Heard TRAC – 4/3/16
