Friends of Jawbone

Of the many great things the Friends of Jawbone does, the Owlshead GPS has to be one of my favorites. They have made great strides with the app now being available. I can't wait to see what additional features they add with this grant. I strongly support this grant application. Thank you for your consideration of my comments. Ruth Hidalgo - 3/27/17

I support the application by Friends of Jawbone for Ground Operations. The Rand Mountains, El Paso and Red Mountains are very popular OHV areas. The El Paso's are coveted by those that like to explore the old mines, cabins, etc. The proximity to Jawbone Canyon and the Dove Springs OHV areas also brings many motorcycles and UTV's to the area. Trail maintenance is a constant battle. There is a need for these funds to support this hugely popular recreation area. Anyone that has been in Randsburg on Thanksgiving weekend, knows there is a need for additional bathrooms during holiday weekends. I had a 10 year old that had to hold her bladder (after riding in from Cal City) for 15 minutes to use a bathroom there one year. It was not fun for me either. This is great use of OHV funds in area that becomes a OHV mecca during holiday weekends. The EP15 transition trail is important and should be funded through the OHV grant program. Thank you for your consideration of my comments. Ruth Hidalgo - 3/27/17

The Friends of Jawbone have been doing a great job to help keep trails and public access open for all to enjoy. As OHV use increases so does the need for maintenance and trail upkeep. Staying on designated routes is important and the few who stray create the need to do protective restoration work. The Owls Head project provide a important service to the public to help OHVers know where they are and where they should be on public lands. Please fund this grant to help ensure public access today and into the future. Mike Wubbels - 3/30/17

Please fund this grant. This group has done wonders to enhance the OHV experience for me over the years and needs the funding to continue. Edward Mann - 3/30/17
