Placer County Sheriff's Office

Please deny this grant request. Primarily this is due to the grant request funding the existence of a government agency, only. The worst example given by this sheriff, for it's existence, is using a helicopter crash. Responding to a helicopter crash is a matter for the Placer Co. tax payer, only. The purpose of OHV grant money is to sustain off road recreation which is why OHV funds are granted to the USFS and the BLM. Moreover, there is a lack of coordination among various government agencies claiming jurisdiction over OHV areas. The county sheriff should rely on other government agencies requesting OHV money, in lieu of, acting independently. A law enforcement agency should be a component of a USFS or BLM OHV grant request. Bottom line, the biggest bang for every OHV dollar spent is a coordinated plan of action among various government agencies. William Lithgow – 3/24/16

I do not believe that OHV money was intended for Law Enforcement. My monies should be going towards maintaining the OHV system of parks and creating new opportunities for the tax payers that provide the funding. Chris Gallop – 4/2/16
