USFS - Cleveland National Forest
I would like to comment on OHMVR grants on behalf of the California Off-Road Vehicle Association.
Cleveland National Forest north Ground Operations. This grant is needed to support the only public OHV area in its region. I do oppose the $56,000 to trim brush along the 8 miles of trails. In this area, the bushes grow slowly and not every foot of trail needs trimming. If the forest can't find volunteers to do this, I will personally trim all 8 miles of trail for you for $5,000. I have lots of experience working on trails in the CNF Descanso District. The forest should embark on a planning grant to increase to trail mileage at Wildomar. For the south ground operations, the grant is very reasonable and should be funded as entirely as possible. I wonder why in the CNF restoration grant, the OHV coodinator cost cost $370 per day, while the south ground operations grant has an OHV area manager at $283.
Then the Wildomar (North ground operations) has no coordinator. For the south ground operations, the grant is very reasonable and should be funded as entirely as possible. Ed Stovin - 4/7/14
