City of California City
I am a life long off road enthusiast who has used our local desert resources since the mid 1960's. I have seen a myriad of changes in these years and understand the need to protect the resource for future use.
California City is one of the few remaining open spaces where off road users can still enjoy their sport but it needs to be protected and land use policies need to be enforced. The grant they are asking for will assist in keeping the desert open for use and protected at the same time. They are asking for more personnel to enforce the policies, monies for maintenance of structures, roads and signs, medical equipment and funds for emergency medical assistance and educational funds.
I feel that this is a worthwhile expenditure of tax money to keep these open spaces available for public use. Please give every consideration to this grant request so our families can continue to use the ever shrinking open spaces. Bruce Galien - 3/28/14
I would like to comment on OHMVR grants on behalf of the California Off-Road Vehicle Association.
Calcity Ground Operations and Law Enforcement grants are pretty high. How many miles of trails are there? I don't mean graded dirt roads This is a well loved area that many people go to. I certainly hope this area can continue to flourish, just not by draining the grant programs coffers. Ed Stovin - 4/6/14
