City of Hesperia
I recieved notice that there is possible assistance for a well deserved facility. Competitive Edge MX park is a great asset to the SoCal area. I feel any support towards this facility is going to be used in a manor that helps our area. Please do your best to help maintain this much needed riding park. [Bob Casper - 4/3/11]
I am writing to express my support for the race track known as Competitive Edge in Hesperia. I have been racing and riding since the late '60s and find that the administration of Competitive Edge are responsible and fair to their customers. They have an exceptional program and I plan to attend the facility and surrounding businesses with my son often for the next several years. [Frank Mierau - 3/31/11]
We understand that the City of Hesperia has requested a grant to assist in funding the operations of Competitive Edge Motocross Park (CEMP). Our family and friends frequently visit CEMP for recreational riding and competitive events. Visitors to CEMP contribute to the City of Hesperia’s economy through purchases of fuel, food, hotel and other necessities. Combined, the weekday practices and weekend events bring hundreds of visitors to City of Hesperia.
Motocross is a great family sport and we love it because it allows our family quality time together, builds strength of spirit in our child through competition and we meet a lot of exceptional people along the way. Now it's the State of California's turn, please grant the necessary funding. [Mark & Mary Ellen Bellman - 3/27/11]

It has come to my attention that Competitive Edge MX Park and the City of Hesperia are in need of a Grant from the State of California in order to maintain operation. I would ask that the grant be passed so the facility can remain open for the safe recreation for families from across Southern California. Attached is a photo of my 2 girls enjoying yet another day of building safe memories and skills that will help them grow into diverse and productive members of our community.
Thank you for your efforts in insuring that these vital opportunities for personal development will continue in the organized and controlled facility that Competitive Edge MX Park and the City of Hesperia have provided. [Steve Marshall, Kristen Marshall, Reagan Marshall, Zoey Marshall - 3/21/11]
My name is Colton Barringer. I'm a racer at Competitive Edge -- have been for many years and a dear friend to the Kristen and Joe. So many memories there. The first track I ever won a race, where I met alot of my friends, met my gf/ fiance. And I know I'm not the only one that feels this way about CEMX. For some riders it's away to escape harsh living enviornments, or just go out and have a fun fullfilled day at the track with the family. Without this motocross track in Hesperia not just the riders suffer but so will some of the businesses that are next to the Super Target off of Main St. You got to realize that this track is a win win situation. What I mean by that is the kids will have a place to go to have fun, ride and enjoy their weekends, along with the newly put in businesses or even that new am.pm off of 395 that sells race gas at the pump!! They did that for the local racers heading to the track. So I ask you please help keep our community together -- let's keep CEMS for generations to come. Thank you. [Colton Barringer - 3/19/11]

It has been brought to my attention that the City of Hesperia in conjunction with Competitive Edge Motocross Park has requested a grant in order to continue operations of the motocross facility. My husband, my son and I frequently visit the Park for recreational riding and competitive events. We have driven all over the country and visited many motocross parks and in our expericence, Competivie Edge is one of the best run, well maintained, family oriented facilities we have ever been to and we feel it's worth the drive out from Thousand Oaks, despite the long distance and raising gas prices.
The City of Hesperia needs to be commended for acknowledging the value of Competitive Edge Motocross Park and taking the action necessary to enabling its future existence. Not only is it a place where families can bond, friends are made, kids are off the street and doing something constructive, but it brings people and revenue to the city, as well. Competitive Edge Motocross Park has earned it's place with the top racing promoters in the country and most racing events there have hundreds of attendees, bringing business to the City of Hesperia and into California.

I am writing this morning to express my love for the great sport of motocross. Me, my family and a lot of my friends have been involved in motocross for decades. Southern California is world headquarters for the motocross industry and we need as many facilities as possible to accomodate the growing number of participants. Please grant Competitive Edge Motocross Park as much assistance as possible so that they can continue to operate a world class training facility. Joe and his lovely wife do an excellent job and every time I go there with my friends, it is both enjoyable and accommodating.
Thanks in advance. [Chris Rogers - 3/14/11]
I wanted to thank you for the great facility you have put together. I brought my 3 kids down over Christmas break to get some riding in. The trip was 3000 miles in 5 days. We went to other mx parks and Magic mountain in our short break. Nothing compared to CE. We really enjoyed everything CE had to offer from the reasonable riding fees, the amount of time on the track, the safeness and quality of the track and The best prices of t-shirts and hoodies (we bought 4 of each). I would give anything to have a CE in my neighborhood! Not only did we support CE while we were in town we also supported the markets, hotels and gas stations (even though we still had half a tank). I too am a business owner and realize that your business supports the ones around it. The town is lucky to have CE in the area. [Joe Malich - 3/12/11]
I heard about the possible process for a grant for the CEMX facility in Hesperia. Just wanted you to know that the CEMX facility is one of my favorite places to ride. Kristen and Joe do a great job running the facility. I drive an hour and a half from Huntington Beach to ride there because the facility is great. I really appreciate how they have tracks for all levels of riders and how they keep the tracks prepped and safe for all of us to enjoy.
I know to run a MX facility is very expensive. Over the years I have seen many facilities shut down because the ownership expense was to great. I encourage you to do what ever you can to help CEMX receive this grant so some of their burdens of operation can be lifted and we as MX enthusiasts can enjoy this great facility for years to come. Thank you. [Mark Edwards - 3/11/11]
I have lived in Hesperia CA for over 15 years now and I have enjoyed off road riding for as many of those years as I can remember, I am a avid off road/motocross rider. Competitive edge Motocross Park has been a place me and my family and friends have been able to ride locally due to the new OHV restrictions placed on the Honda Valley land near Los Floras ranch. Comp edge is a good safe facility it provides flaggers and a team of employees that take care of the people who come in and enjoy a day at the track. This is a place that brings teams and riders from all over the US to events and some good old fashion motocross racing. I hope more and more letters come in from local people and other who are not as fortunate as me to live so close to this great facility because this is something that is a good thing for me and my family it brings us together and keeps my kids out of trouble and doing the wrong things. Can’t express the need of more of these types of places for a sport that has deep roots in this part of the state. [Justin Barber - 3/11/11]
Competitive Edge Motocross park is an important park to the motocross families of Southern California. It is safe, clean, well run, and a great place for family recreation. Please allow CE to stay open. [Richard Ellis - 3/10/11]
It has been brought to my attention that the City of Hesperia in conjunction with Competitive Edge Motocross Park has requested a grant in order to continue operations of the motocross facility as they have operated for the past several years. I, my 15 year old daughter and now my 5 year old son enjoy the use of the facility several times per month despite the long drive from Agoura Hills.
Motocross is generally a misunderstood sport. Those in the know will tell you that it is one of the most physically demanding there is and provides the young and old alike with the motivation to take good care of themselves so they can continue to ride and compete at their best. I myself describe motocross as the most exciting and fun exercise I have ever done, in and of itself, and hope to do it for many years to come.
Additionally, motocross is a great family sport and requires much parent participation. In this sport, parents don’t sit on the sideline and watch someone else coach their kids. They are involved! The sport provides for much parent, child one on one time. A 10, 12 or even 16 year old can not show up and participate without adult supervision.
With all the bad influences we find on school playgrounds, it is comforting to know that my kids will resist the peer pressure and temptations because they ride motocross and want to maintain their “Competitive Edge”. The City of Hesperia needs to be commended for acknowledging the value of Competitive Edge Motocross Park and taking the action necessary to enabling its future existence. Now it’s the State of California’s turn, please grant the necessary funding. What could be a more worthy cause! [Daniel Rooney - 3/10/11]
I am in support of the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Grant Program for the City of Hesperia in reference to Competitive Edge MX Park. We live in Chino Hills, CA and Competitive Edge MX Park has been a wonderful place for my husband and son to ride their Motocross bikes. Our family takes the trek up the Cajon Pass to visit this motocross park and it is a wonderful family activity that we have enjoyed there for years. Please remember that we would like to see the Competitive Edge MX Park continue to operate and facilitate families throughout California. [Alison Morales - 3/10/11]
It was recently brought to my attention that local tracks and recreation areas need our support. Please provide the necessary grant to the city of Hesperia and Competitive Edge MX Park in order to maintain or organized riding area open. I have personally been riding on this track since the track opened, and enjoy the fun and challenges that the track provides for my friends and I. I look forward to riding at this park for years to com and appreciate your support to help keep it open in the city of Hesperia. I grew up in this city in the 80's and 90's, where we never had the opportunity to have such a fun place to ride, now that we have it, I would hate to lose such a great place for us to ride where people come from 100 miles or more on a weekly basis to ride. Please support our city and track. [David Beck - 3/9/11]

I would like to thank you and the city of Hesperia for giving us the facility of Competitive Edge Motocross Park. I have been training/racing at this facility for many years. This track has always been one of the best facilities in California. Being somewhat local to the facility, Competitive Edge has given me the opportunity to get me that one step closer in becoming a professional Motocross racer. I always love coming to this facility because I know I'm going to get a great track as well as amazing service from the employees. Thank you for giving the necessary fundings for this facility and hopefully be able to keep the same funds for this track to be open for many years to come. [David Meade - 3/9/11]
I would like to express my support of the Competitive Edge Motocross Park. I ride there often and it is an asset to the community. [Troy Wong - 3/9/11]
It’s my understanding that the Competitive Edge Motocross Park facility needs a grant to keep running properly, and continue it’s ongoing support of motocross riders and their families.
Please allow them the grant, so my family and I can keep going and enjoying the healthy family atmosphere that Competitive Edge Motocross Park facility and the city of Hesperia provide. [Ray Poltack - 3/9/11]
