City of California City
Preliminiary Application Comments
I have read the State Parks OHV grant applications for the City of California City for Ground Operations, Law Enforcement and Education & Safety, California City is one of the few cities in the nation to welcome OHV to its land and draws thousands of people each year. These grants should be funded to the fullest extent possible to enhance OHV recreation in this area. [Ed Stovin, CORVA - 4/4/09]
California City is becoming a destination for Off Road Vehicle enthusiast and as such they camp in California City and BLM trails become the riding areas. It is my hope that both California City, BLM Ridgecrest Field office and Kern County Sheriff have a complete coordinated system in place with radios, air ships and patrols to not only educate the visitors, but make sure that folks stay on the designated trails. We want to thank California City Management for their continued support. [Ed Waldheim - 3/29/09]
I support City of California City in acquiring their grant funding application. California City is near the top on visitation numbers from the Off Highway Recreation community in California.
Ground Operations are essential. Maintenance work and ground operations play an important role in the quality of OHV opportunity.
Law enforcement is a key element in preserving legal access to lands within California City located in East Kern County. Along with Law Enforcement, Education and safety work hand and hand. Borax Bill park is a focal point for information, education and safety.
Please consider that adequate staffing is needed for all points above. [Wayne Nosala - 3/29/09]
