The Cultural Resource Management Program and Specialists
The Cultural Resource Management Program at the OHMVR Division (Division) is a relatively young program. The Division hired its first Associate State Archaeologist, Phil Hines, in 2000. Phil retired in 2006, but has remained involved with the Program as a Retired Annuitant.
Alicia Perez was hired in 2007 at the Division in Sacramento as an Archaeological Project Lead and was later promoted to Associate State Archaeologist in 2008. Kelly Long was also hired in 2008 as an Associate State Archaeologist for the Division.
In 2007, Jennifer Parker was hired as an Associate State Archaeologist for the Ocotillo Wells District to manage the cultural resource program for the various parks in southern California. Margret Kress, an Archaeological Aid, assists Jennifer in managing the resources for the southern OHV park units.
The four archaeologists work together to promote the protection, preservation, and interpretation of cultural resources throughout the various OHV park units. They also conduct public outreach through stewardship programs, state conferences, and training.
